About Our Partners

The Hocking County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC)

The mission of Hocking County Community Improvement Corporation is to advance, encourage and promote the industrial, economic, commercial, retail and civic development of Hocking County in partnership with the municipalities and county officials. The Hocking County Community Improvement Corporation was established as an economic development entity. Since the Hocking County CIC is privately funded, projects in development are subject to competitive wages rather than prevailing wages, making it much easier and economical to locate or expand in Hocking County. A local, volunteer board of directors and a full-time executive director guide the Hocking County CIC. The organization may purchase, develop and market commercial buildings, commercial sites and the industrial park in cooperation with private developers and property owners. When companies begin looking at locating or growing in Hocking County, they find a powerful ally in the county's Community Improvement Corporation (CIC). Hocking's CIC, unlike many of its government-supported counterparts in the region, is privately funded. And while it works closely with city and county governments, it also has the ability to move quickly--without waiting for elected officials to approve decisions--when a development opportunity presents itself. And, because of its sound financial footing, the CIC's credit is top-rated, often permitting it to obtain loans at lower rates than companies could obtain them. Another financing plus: the City of Logan offers a Revolving Loan Fund to start-ups or existing businesses in its urban area. The fund, designed to fill the gap between bank financing and company needs, is designed to encourage job creation in the area. Logan and much of the county are also an Enterprise Zone and a Community Investment Area, which can provide employers important tax advantages. The benefits of Foreign Trade Zone status are within the Logan-Hocking Industrial Park. Click here to visit the Hocking County CIC website.

The Appalachian Advanced Energy Association (AAEA)

Biodiesel Grease Logan, the county-seat of Hocking County, is home to the Hocking College Energy Institute. The county is becoming leader in green technology and that leadership is strongly promoted by the Appalachian Advanced Energy Association (AAEA). The AAEA is a non-profit LLC established to serve the Appalachian region with a global outreach in Advanced and Transportation Energy fields. The top priority of the AAEA is to bring the Advanced Energy industry together and enhance the marketing of Advanced and Transportation Energy products and services worldwide. Sponsors of the AAEA include Hocking County CIC, Hocking College, AAEA Membership and American Electric Power Company. The AAEA is seeking the participation and position of every segment in the advanced energy industry supply chain. Click here to visit the AAEA website.
