Position: Executive Vice President
John Demmler is the Executive Vice President of The Citizens Bank, overseeing daily bank operations and having direct management responsibility for Legal and Asset Management, Credit Administration, and Lending.
Previously, John spent eight years at JPMorganChase in Chicago, focusing on portfolio acquisitions, corporate risk and financial management reporting, and international commercial finance, where John was responsible for managing the operational expansion of the bank's commercial international sales division from operations in four countries pre-merger to twenty-two countries post-merger.
John also spent two years at HSBC, a U.K. based international bank, where he was responsible for the bank's procurement and management of data intelligence for use in credit decision analytics and account monitoring.
In addition to his background in banking and finance, John was a President’s Circle member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs from 2002 to 2007, served as a legislative aide in the United States Congress and as a member of the Senate Minority Leader's office in the Ohio Senate. John teaches Microeconomics and Macroeconomics at Ohio University and is the co-founder and President of MITI Education, an education consulting firm formed from a cohort of Harvard University Graduate School of Education alumni.
John studied political science and economics at the Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University, received a B.S. in finance and banking in 1998 from Franklin University, a master's in business administration in 2002 from Capital University, and a juris doctorate from DePaul University, with a concentration in international law, where John studied at Beijing Foreign Studies University, in 2008.
