But idyllic as life in the region is, don't make the mistake of thinking that Hocking County and its county seat, Logan, are communities you simply visit for a weekend getaway or on your way to some other place more suited to industrial and commercial development.

COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT CORP
When companies begin looking at locating or growing in Hocking County, they find a powerful ally in the county's Community Improvement Corporation (CIC).

Hocking's CIC, unlike many of its government-supported counterparts in the region, is privately funded. And while it works closely with city and county governments, it also has the ability to move quickly--without waiting for elected officials to approve decisions--when a development opportunity presents itself.

TRAVEL AND TOURISM
The Hocking Hills region is home to 9 state parks, over 9000 acres of state forest land, part of the Wayne National Forest, 4 nature preserves and one of the largest metro parks in the state. Hiking, fishing, camping, horseback riding, canoeing, rappelling, and bird watching are just a few of the activities visitors to the area enjoy.
